Calculate Coil

This quantity valuation offers you the material quantity calculation for coils, so that this rather complex calculation needn't be calculated and documented outside FACTON.

The following example shows the use of a material quantity calculation:

Step 1: Create Should Cost Calculation

Further Information Create Should Cost Calculation

Step 2: Insert a Material (Mass)

By selecting the Calculate Coil quantity valuation and a corresponding geometric shape at the material, a more extended calculation logic becomes available.

Note

You can insert the material

The latter is shown in the following, because it illustrates the inputs required for calculation.

Insert a Local Material (Mass)

  1. Select the should cost calculation in the Structure view.
  2. Click on Edit ► Insert ► Insert New Local Material (Mass).

A local material is added under the should cost calculation.

  3. In the Details ► Calculation view schema (combobox) select the Calculate Coil quantity valuation.
  4. Note

For materials with Calculate Coil quantity valuation, the following geometric shapes are available:

    Geometric Shape Image Required Input
    Strip Input for Strip-Coil Materials
    Wire Input for Wire-Coil Materials

Input for Strip-Coil Materials

Define the following properties for the material in the Details ►Calculation view schema (combobox):

    Valuation *Calculate Costs
    Quantity Valuation Calculate Coil
    Geometric Shape Strip

    Density 7.85 g / cm³

    Strip Width (w) 350.00 mm
    Strip Thickness (t) 0.50 mm

    Gross Weight 0.50 kg

    Calculation Method <empty>

    Price Source Standard
Price per Unit 23.00 EUR / kg
Refund per Unit 15.00 EUR / kg

Based on the input, the following values are calculated:

    • Cross Sectional Area
    • Volume
    • Weight per Length
    • Profile Length (l)

    Calculate Gross Weight

Using the Gross Weight Base combobox of Coil-Strip materials, you can decide whether to directly enter the gross weight value (»Enter Gross Weight« selection), or whether to have this value calculated by values of other properties. If you want to have it calculated (»Calculate Gross Weight« selection), you can enter values for inner and outer diameter resulting in the gross weight value.

Selecting none of the two options (i. e. leaving the combobox empty) will disable the gross weight property and thus it will not be included in the calculation.

Input for Wire-Coil Materials

Define the following properties for the material in the Details ►Calculation view schema (combobox):

    Valuation *Calculate Costs
    Quantity Valuation Calculate Coil
    Geometric Shape Wire

    Density 7.85 g / cm³

    Wire Diameter (w) 5.00 mm

    Gross Weight 60.00 kg

    Price Source Standard
Price per Unit 23.00 EUR / kg
Refund per Unit 15.00 EUR / kg

Based on the input, the following values are calculated:

    • Cross Sectional Area
    • Volume
    • Weight per Length
    • Profile Length (l)
