"Technology" calculation mode

In "Technology" calculation mode , you can calculate cost elements with individually defined calculation formulas. Define a calculation formula using the cost models in Data Administration.

Further Information see Create cost models.

The "Technology" calculation mode is available for:

The "Technology" calculation mode is displayed in the calculation overview in rows colored in light blue:

WARNING

If you change formulas or variables of a cost model in the Data Administration, you must first synchronize the master data using the database synchronization before the changes become effective in "Technology" calculation mode .

Further Information see Synchronize and update data.

"Technology" calculation mode for manufacturing processes

  1. Select the Manufacturing process in the project structure you wish to assign the "Technology" calculation mode to.

  2. In the ribbon, click on Start > Set Mode > Technology .

The "Technology" dialog for manufacturing processes opens.

The locked input fields represent the output parameters of the formula for the manufacturing process.

The symbol indicates that the value originates from an Excel template.

  3. Click on the button to open the Excel template.

  4. Complete all other input fields and choose values from the comboboxes.

These are the input parameters for the formula of the manufacturing process.

  5. Click Calculate.

  6. Confirm your entries with OK.

The values are saved and taken over to the process.

WARNING

After assigning a mode and executing the technology program, the calculated values will be saved. During the next calculation of the project, only the saved values will be used for computing costs.

A change in the technology program does not automatically induce in a change in the costing result.

Note

When copying manufacturing processes in "Technology" calculation mode with Excel templates, the Excel template is also available in the copied manufacturing process.

Note

Manufacturing processes to which a cost model has been assigned in the Data Administration are automatically evaluated in "Technology" calculation mode when inserted. This eliminates some manual steps for the user, especially when external properties on the part or on the manufacturing process are used for the calculation.

The technology process is not automatically set if the process was previously evaluated via a different mode, for example, following these actions:

  • Copying of manufacturing processes

  • Database synchronization

If it is not possible to set the "Technology" calculation mode due to errors in the cost model, the "Standard" calculation mode is used.
