Manage Selection Lists
In the Master Data workspace, you can use selection lists to set a predefined selection of list elements, such as supplier, commodity groups, classifications for tools and fixtures, and purposes.
Open Selection List
- You are logged in as Master Data Administrator.
- You are in the Master Data workspace.
- In the Explorer ► Selection Lists, click on
- Supplier,
- Commodity Group,
- Tool Classification,
- Fixture Classification,
- Business Unit,
- Purpose,
- Industrial Sector,
- Location or
- Labor Group.
The Selection List : XXX tab opens.
In the Master Data ► Explorer ► Selection Lists workspace you can:
- Create Elements, manage labels and short labels in multiple languages
- Indent and Outdent Elements to edit the hierarchical structure of the list
- Move Elements up and down to change the displayed order of the combobox in the Details view
- Delete Elements
Below you can see the Selection List : Commodity Group as an example, where you can manage the commodity groups.

Selection List »Supplier«
The list elements created for supplier are provided in the Calculations workspace of the should cost calculation or
overhead rate calculation under Details ► General.
There you have the choice to enter the name of the supplier manually or to select already known suppliers, which you have administered via selection lists. Activate the checkbox »Use known suppliers« to select a known supplier from the selection list.
Selection List »Commodity Group«, »Business Unit« and »Purpose«
The list elements created for commodity group and purpose are provided in the Calculations workspace of the should cost calculation under Details ► General. This enables you to assign commodity groups & purposes to your should cost calculation to find them more quickly.
You can search for your should cost calculation in queries using the parameters »Commodity Group« / »Purpose«.
Selection List »Tool Classification« and »Fixture Classification«
The classifications created for tools and fixtures are provided in the Calculations workspace on the relevant calculation element under Details ► Technical Description.
The classification of tools and fixtures allows you to search efficiently, instead of searching by name, FACTON provides you with the ability to search by classification.
In addition to the classification, you can also document
- the Development Type for the calculation elements Tool and Fixture in the Details ► General view in order to document whether it is a »New Development«, »Adjustment Development« or »Carry Over« .
- the Lead Time, Order Date and Payment Date for the calculation elements Tool and Fixture in the Details ► General view in order to document how far in advance a tool / fixture construction has to be ordered before it can be used in production.
When you create or edit elements in selection lists for each element, you can decide whether you want to specify the description in one or more languages.
