Reuse routings

There are two ways to copy and paste the whole routing without newly creating it every time.

Calculated routings are also reinserted in their calculated form.

Create and use a standard routing

Create a standard routing if you wish to use it several times or if want to give your colleagues access to it. Routings located in the Standard Routings folder can be used by all other FACTON users who at least have reading permission for this folder.

Create a standard routing

  • The Workspace Explorer is visible.
  • You have the right to create routings in the Standard Routing folder.
  • The project containing the routing you wish to copy must be open.
  • Be sure to have added a complete routing with all of the necessary processes, workers and machines in the open project.
  1. Select Routing for the manufacturing part or assembly in the project structure tree you wish to copy.

  2. Hold the routing with the left mouse button and drag & drop it into the Standard routings folder in the Workspace Explorer.

    The "New Routing" dialog opens.

  3. Enter a name for the new routing.

  4. Click OK.

The renamed routing is saved in the Standard Routing folder in the Workspace Explorer.

Closing the dialog with Cancel will abort the drag & drop action and no new standard routing is created.

Use a standard routing

  • The Workspace Explorer is visible.
  • The project you wish to add the standard routing to must be open.
  1. Open the assembly or manufacturing part in the project structure tree to see the Routing.

  2. Drag the desired standard routing from the Workspace Explorer and drop it onto the calculation element Routing in the project structure tree.

Copy routing

You can copy and paste a routing into a different routing. This is especially useful if you are not planning on reusing a routing or if you do not want to give other users access to it.

Copy and paste a routing

  1. Right-click on the Routing > Copy of a manufacturing part or assembly in the project structure.

  2. Right-click on the Routing > Paste of a manufacturing part or assembly in the project structure.

    The routing is added.

Hint

You can also copy only individual processes or calculation elements of a routing.

You can now add insert the remaining routings from the table Routings into the project. You can decide whether you wish to create a standard routing or copy the routing.
