Import Sub-Structure of a Calculation

The Excel import consists of two steps:
- Step 1: Import Sub-Structure of a Calculation
- Step 2: Publish Imported Sub-Structure of a Calculation
Generally, the Excel template is imported row by row. If an error occurs, the import is interrupted and an error message appears. This message contains the cause of the error, so it can be debugged straight away, e.g. the respective row and/or column number of the missing values.
Updating of imported sub-structures is not possible: Repeated import of sub-structures does not update the existing structure, instead the sub-structure is re-inserted into the costing structure.
Step 1: Import Sub-Structure of a Calculation
Import Calculation Structure (Bill of Materials (BoM))
- You are logged in as Calculator.
- You are in the Calculations workspace.
- In the Structure view, select the calculation element under which you want to import the sub-structure.
- In the Ribbon, click on Edit ►
From File.
The FACTON - Select file to import dialog opens.
- Right-click on the calculation element ► Insert from File
- Select the .xlsx file you want to import.
- Click on the Open button.
The sub-structure of the calculation from the Excel file is inserted under the selected calculation element.
If an error occurs, a detailed error message is displayed at the end of the import.
Alternative:
If you have not yet published changes to the calculation. Click Yes to publish local changes to the calculation.
Step 2: Publish Imported Sub-Structure of a Calculation
Publish changes
- In the ribbon, click on File ► Publish All.
All existing changes are published.
