"Object Parameters" group

  • "Function number:" entry field

    Semantic key for identification.

  • "Class" combobox

The classification of functions into these categories supports the targeted analysis and control of costs and enables a detailed representation of a company's cost structure and value creation.

    • "Main function" combobox

Main functions entail the primary tasks or the main purpose of an object. Their fulfillment is indispensable.

The most important, central task of a product or process. Example: In manufacturing, the production of a product is the main function. Cost aspect: The costs of the main function are usually the focus of calculation, efficiency improvement, and cost control.

    • "Adjacent function" combobox

Adjacent functions are other tasks that are required for fulfilling the main functions. Yet, they often only indirectly help fulfilling the main function.

Tasks that support the main purpose but are not essential to the core result. Example: The packaging of the product or storage may be secondary functions. Cost aspect: Adjacent function costs are not directly necessary for the product, but can improve quality, service, or logistical processes.

    • "Sub-function" combobox

Sub-functions are usually sub-tasks of a main or adjacent function, representing a further level of detail. Example: Within the main function "Production" setting up a machine would be a sub-function. Cost aspect: Sub-function costs enable even finer allocation and control of costs to sub-processes.

    • "Additional function" combobox

Additional functions are functions that are not required but are often desired or optional and go beyond basic requirements. Example: Additional services such as optional premium service, special logistics arrangements, optional product features. Cost aspect: Additional functional costs can play an important role in pricing and differentiation; sometimes they arise from customer requests or as voluntary additional services provided by the company.

  • "Type" combobox

    • Usage function

Usage functions are required for the technical and commercial use of an object.

    • Prestige function

Prestige functions do not have a significant effect on the usage function of an object. They cater to matters of taste or prestige. Prestige functions are required, if these additional functions are requested by the customer.

  • "Importance" entry field

The percentage value representing the importance of the function.

Note

Please note that the percentage value for the "Importance" of a function must always result in 100% of the main and the sub-functions.
