Project-specific Machines

Use project-specific machines if you want to calculate the machine hour rate calculation based on the actual expenditure of a project or across multiple projects.

Note

Added project-specific machines retain their links to Data Administration; i.e. the machine is compared against the new data during master data synchronization.

When a machine from Data Administration is added, the machine hour rate costs (acquisition costs and consumption costs) are always calculated in the project from the year of acquisition - even for the years following depreciation.

If you want the machine hour rate for the current calculation year to be calculated in the project, you must add the machine to the project as a project-specific machine.

Insert project-specific machine

  1. Select a process in the project structure you wish to add a machine under.
  2. In the ribbon, click on Start > Insert Component > Machine .

Alternative: Right-click on the process > New > Machine .

    The "Machine Assignment" dialog opens.

  3. Select a machine in the "Available Machines" or "Inventory Number" list.
  4. Activate the "Project-specific" checkbox.
  5. Click on Insert.

    The machine is now project-specific.

The "Machine - Properties" dialog opens.

  6. Enter the machine properties and confirm your entries with OK.
  7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 to assign all other machines.
  8. Confirm your entries with OK.

The project-specific machines are added to the project.

  9. Note

The machine data are taken over from Data Administration. The hour rate is imputed independent from Data Administration.

Project-specific machines can also be changed back to standard machines.

Insert New Project-Specific Machine

You can create a new project-specific machine that is independent from the Data Administration. The machine properties are only defined for the project.

  1. Open the "Machine Assignment" dialog.

  2. Click New.

The project-specific machine is shown in the project and the "Machine - Properties" dialog opens.

  3. Enter the machine properties.
  4. Confirm your entries with OK.

The "Machine - Properties" dialog dialog closes.

  5. Confirm your entries with OK.

The project-specific machine is added to the project.

Change Project-Specific Machine to Standard Machine

  1. Open the "Machine Assignment" dialog of the machine.

  2. Deactivate the "project-specific" checkbox.
  3. Optional: Select an available machine.
  4. Confirm your entries with OK.

The project-specific machine is changed to the selected standard machine.

  5. Note

For project-specific machines as reference / reference copy :

The machine has changed from a project-specific to a standard machine without reference / reference copy. The associated reference / reference copy remains unchanged.

Functional right: Editing the properties of project-specific machines in a project

With this functional right, you can define whether a user is allowed to change the properties of a project-specific machine in a project.

Right Description
Permission granted User can change the properties in the project.
Grant access User can change the properties in the project and can grant write access for other users.
Access denied User has read access to all properties in the "Machine - Properties" dialog. User cannot change the properties in the project.

You can find the setting in the "Rights Administration" dialog under All functions > General > Common resource costing > Change data of project-specific machines.
