Maintenances

System-critical category changes must be performed in a "sterile" environment, i.e. no users are logged into the system and no projects are open, even projects that are kept open on the server. Maintenance mode helps FACTON administrators performing maintenance operations to the FACTON system, saving them time and accelerating system availability.

When adjusting or changing the system, maintenance mode is required in the following categories:

• Costing scheme (Data Administration)
• Basic data types (Data Administration)
• Standard attributes (Settings)
• Data administration attributes (Settings)
• Technology Update:
• FACTON® Content Update

Users only have read access rights for the listed categories and cannot make any changes.

Time and log off

The minimum amount of time until maintenance operations begin is 10 minutes, regardless of whether you merely wish to schedule maintenance for a later time or begin immediately. As soon as maintenance is activated, logged-in users are prompted to exit FACTON (no earlier than 30 minutes before the time expires). When this period expires and maintenance begins, all users are logged off the system. Apart from the administrator who is performing maintenance, no users can log in during maintenance.

Warnings

Whenever maintenance operations are pending, users are reminded (no earlier than 30 minutes before start) that they will need to finish their work in FACTON due to maintenance. This window is displayed every 10 minutes and can be closed. Five minutes before FACTON is switched to maintenance mode, another notice appears to remind users to exit FACTON immediately. This window can only be moved, not closed.

Cost-relevant Settings

Create versions of all relevant projects prior to activating the maintenance mode with system changes. Settings relevant to costing can be edited in maintenance mode.
