Performing maintenance operations
Only one user from the administrator group is permitted to log in. System settings, lookup tables and costing scheme remain locked. Unlike maintenance mode with system changes, the cache is not emptied in this mode.

Carry out maintenance operations without system changes whenever you need to modify systems but wish to discourage or even avoid joint access to server data. Among other actions, maintenance mode allows you to:

Get an overview to the projects that are still open and which users are still logged in.
- In the System Information group of the Maintenance dialog, click the Open Projects and Users logged in buttons.
Schedule Maintenance
- Choose whether you would like to perform maintenance operations with or without system changes and highlight this option.

Enter information for the currently logged-in users in the "Maintenance message" field.
The users receive a warning message along with the maintenance message you entered at different intervals reminding them that FACTON will close soon.
- In the date field "Maintenance scheduled at" enter a time for your maintenance job.
- Click on the Schedule Maintenance button.
- Click the Close button to close the dialog. Maintenance mode will begin at the scheduled time.
Starting maintenance immediately
- Choose whether you would like to perform maintenance operations with or without system changes and highlight this option.

Click the Start Now button.
Maintenance mode is started immediately as long as no other users are logged onto FACTON. If other users are logged in, FACTON recommends scheduling maintenance mode to start in 10 minutes.
- Click the Close button to close the dialog. Maintenance mode remains active.
Ending maintenance
Closing the maintenance mode might take a few minutes.
- In the ribbon, click on File ► Settings ► Maintenance
to open the Maintenance dialog.
- Click the Stop button. This button is only visible during active maintenance operations.

The "Change Comment" dialog opens, enabling you to enter all of the maintenance activities.
- Click the OK button. Maintenance mode ends and the FACTON server can optionally be started again.
- Click the Cancel button. Maintenance mode remains active.
Ending maintenance mode with system changes empties both the report and project cache.
If you wish to close FACTON while maintenance mode is still active, you will be notified that maintenance mode is still active. You can decide whether to close maintenance mode.
- Click Yes to close maintenance mode. A dialog box opens up for you to enter change comments. FACTON closes once the change comments have been added.
- Click No to close FACTON but keep maintenance mode active.
