Update and add bill of material
With the help of the Excel bill of material import, you can either update existing elements of the bill of material, or add elements of a bill of material at the end of an already existing bill of material.
Currently, it is not possible to generate projects as part of the BoM import. These projects must be already present.
Update bill of material
Update bill of material
- Open the "Excel Import (Bill of Material)" dialog (see Open Excel import for bills of material).
- Open an Excel data source (see Open data sources).
- Define the data structure (see Use Import Groups for structuring data).
- Select the "Update" option for the "Import Options for Components" (see "Import Options for Components" group).
- Assign the Excel columns to the "FACTON fields" (see Assign Data Field).
- Click Import to start the import.
The results of the import are listed in a log file.
FACTON informs you about missing mandatory assignments or configurations. In such cases, the program will not allow you to launch the import.
- Once you have successfully completed the import, the number of newly created and updated data records is displayed in a log file.
- When the import fails, due to irregularities or errors while running the import, the respective information are also recorded in the log file.
The Excel import does not save the settings and assignments until you close the main window. The most recent settings are automatically loaded after restarting. You can save your configurations in the settings files at any time to reuse them during subsequent imports.
